Verse Text

agastya-saṁhitāyāṁ ca— āghrāṇaṁ gandha-puṣpāder arcitasya tapodhana | viśuddhiḥ syād anantasya ghrāṇasyehābhidhīyate ||164||

Translation

From Agastya-saṁhitā: It is said that the nose smelling flowers and gandha offered to the infinite Lord is the cause of complete purification in this world.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Anantasya in the verse refers to the infinite Lord and this word is modified by arcitasya (worshipped). Smelling by the senses (āghrāṇaṁ ghrāṇasya) the flowers and scent offered to the infinite Lord (arcitasya anantasya) are said to be causes of purification in this world (iha).

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

A similar statement is in the Agastya-saṁhitā: just to purify the impurities of our nostrils, we should try to smell the remnants of flowers offered to Kṛṣṇa in the temple.
