Verse Text

śrī-nārasiṁhe ca— tvāṁ prapanno ’smi śaraṇaṁ deva-deva janārdana | iti yaḥ śaraṇaṁ prāptas taṁ kleśād uddharāmy aham ||202||

Translation

Also, it is said in the Narasiṁha Purāṇa: I deliver from suffering that person who takes shelter of Me saying, “Lord of lords, exciter of all beings, I have taken You as my protector.”

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Śaraṇaṁ prapanno ’smi here means, “I accept You as my protector.” Śaraṇam prāptaḥ means, “Having attained the Lord as shelter.” Thus, śaraṇam has these two meanings: protection and shelter.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

In the Nṛsiṁha Purāṇa, Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva says, “Anyone who prays unto Me and takes shelter of Me becomes My ward, and I protect him always from all sorts of calamities.”
