Verse Text

55. atha mathurāyāḥ, yathā ādi-vārāhe— mathurāṁ ca parityajya yo ’nyatra kurute ratim | mūḍho bhramati saṁsāre mohitā mama māyayā ||211||

Translation

Serving Mathurā and other holy places (verse 89), illustrated in the Varāha Purāṇa: The fool who gives up Mathurā and develops attraction for some other place wanders in the material world birth after birth, bewildered by My māyā.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Residing in Mathurā In the Varāha Purāṇa there is a statement praising the residential quarters of Mathurā. Lord Varāha tells the men of earth, “Any person who becomes attracted to places other than Mathurā will certainly be captivated by the illusory energy.”
