kāma-sambandha-rūpe te prema-mātra-svarūpake |
nitya-siddhāśrayatayā nātra samyag vicārite ||289||
Translation
Since kāma-rūpa and sambandha-rūpa-bhakti, which are caused by prema alone, take shelter of the nitya-siddhas, they have not been discussed in this section thoroughly.
Purport (Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura)
’’There are many sub-varieties in kāma-rūpa and sambandha-rūpa-bhakti. Why are these varieties not mentioned?” This verse answers. These two—kāma-rūpa and sambandha-rūpa-bhakti—exist only on the level of prema. The main places in which they manifest are the nitya-siddhas such as Nanda. The word āṣrayatā (taking shelter of) expresses a state of being (remain within). Because these two types of bhakti remain within the nitya-siddhas, they are not thoroughly discussed in this section dealing with sādhana (na atra samyak vicārite). However, they will be discussed in appropriate chapters.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Svarūpa here means “cause.” The nitya-siddhas, such as Nanda, are the main shelters of this type of bhakti. Because of this, these two are not thoroughly discussed in this section on sādhana, but will be discussed in other chapters.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
Spontaneous love of Kṛṣṇa as exhibited by the Vṛṣṇis and the denizens of Vṛndāvana is eternally existing in them. In the stage of devotional service where regulative principles are followed, there is no necessity of discussing this love, for it must develop of itself at a more advanced stage.
