śrī-daśame nāgapatnī-stutau—
na nāka-pṛṣṭhaṁ na ca sārva-bhaumaṁ
na pārameṣṭhyaṁ na rasādhipatyam |
na yoga-siddhīr apunar-bhavaṁ vā
vāṣchanti yat-pāda-rajaḥ-prapannāḥ ||39||
Translation
In the Tenth Canto the wives of Kāliya speak: Those who have attained the dust of Your lotus feet never hanker for the kingship of Dhruva-loka, limitless sovereignty, the position of Brahmā or rulership over the earth. They are not interested even in the perfections of yoga or in liberation itself. SB 10.16.37
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
They do not desire Dhruva-loka what to speak of a worldly kingdom, or the planet of Brahmā, or the lower planets. The verb is linked to the first part of the verse. The word vā is used for api. They do not even desire liberation. “Those surrendered to the dust of Your feet” indicates profound surrender, showing persons with an excellent type of bhakti.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
There is a similar prayer by the nāga-patnīs (wives of the Kāliya serpent), in the Tenth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Sixteenth Chapter, verse 37. The nāga-patnīs say there, “Dear Lord, the dust of Your lotus feet is very wonderful. Any person who is fortunate enough to achieve this dust does not care for heavenly planets, lordship over all the planetary systems, the mystic perfections of yoga, or even liberation from material existence. In other words, anyone who adores the dust of Your lotus feet does not care a fig for all other perfectional stages.”
