Verse Text
āloka-dānajaḥ, yathā skānde—
adṛṣṭa-pūrvam ālokya kṛṣṇaṁ jāṅgala-vāsinaḥ |
viklidyad-antarātmano dṛṣṭiṁ nākraṣṭum īśire ||18||
Translation
Giving mercy by showing Himself, is illustrated in the Skanda Purāṇa: When they saw Kṛṣṇa, who appeared like nothing they had seen before, the hearts of the residents of Jāṅgala melted and they could not take their eyes away from His form.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
In the Skanda Purāṇa there is a statement about developing ecstatic love toward Kṛṣṇa simply by glancing. It is stated there, “When the inhabitants of Jāṅgala Province saw the Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, they were so stricken with feeling that they could not withdraw their glance from Him.”
