Verse Text

athāṣṭāv anukīrtyante sad-guṇatvena viśrutāḥ | maṅgalālaṅkriyā-rūpāḥ sattva-bhedās tu pauruṣāḥ ||251|| śobhā vilāso mādhuryaṁ māṅgalyaṁ sthairya-tejasī | lalitaudāryam ity ete sattva-bhedās tu pauruṣāḥ ||252||

Translation

Excellent qualities of the heart, the embodiments of auspiciousness, are glorified as eight: glory, playfulness, sweetness, auspiciousness, steadiness, strength, beauty and generosity.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Maṅgalālaṅkriyā-rūpāḥ means “glorious qualities which are the very form of auspiciousness.” Sattva-bhedāḥ means excellent qualities of the heart.

NoD 24: Further Traits of Śrī Kṛṣṇa After describing the different opulences of Kṛṣṇa, Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī tries to further describe the transcendental beauties and qualities of the Lord as decorated, enjoying, pleasing, dependable, steady and predominating. He is also described as a meticulous dresser and a magnanimous personality. These are generally considered to be the qualities of great personalities.
