Verse Text

bālye ’pi nava-tāruṇya-prākaṭyaṁ śruyate kvacit | tan nātirasa-vāhitvān na rasajṣair udāhṛtam ||335||

Translation

Sometimes it is heard that new youthfulness appears even in Kṛṣṇa as a small child, but since that does not nourish rasa, it is not mentioned by those knowledgeable of rasa.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

For instance, in the Vrata-ratnākara of the Bhavisya Purāṇa it is said: bālye ’pi bhagavān kṛṣṇas taruṇaṁ rūpam āśritaḥ reme vihārair vividhaḥ priyayā saha rādhayā Even in His baby years, Kṛṣṇa took on the form of youth and enjoyed various pastimes with His dearmost Rādhā. Not producing proper rasa (nātirasa-vāhitva) means that the rasas should manifest according to a particular order and not otherwise. [Note: Kaumāra is favorable for vatsala-rasa, paugaṇḍa is favorable for sakhya-rasa, and kaiśora is favorable for madhura-rasa.]

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

It is said that even when Kṛṣṇa was a boy of five He manifested such youthful energies, but learned scholars do not explain them because of the absence of suitable age.
