Verse Text

atha ākalpaḥ – keśa-bandhanam ālepo mālā-citra-viśeṣakaḥ | tāmbūla-keli-padmādir ākalpaḥ parikīrtitaḥ ||354||

Translation

Hair styles, applied cosmetics, garlands, body tilaka, tilaka on the forehead, betel nut preparations and imitation lotuses are called accessories.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Ākalpa refers to the texture of Kṛṣṇa’s hair, His nicely dressed body anointed with sandalwood pulp and decorated with flower garlands, His tilaka and His chewing pan. Kṛṣṇa was decorated constantly in this ākalpa process.
