muralī –
hasta-dvayam itāyāmā mukha-randhra-samanvitā |
catuḥ-svara-cchidra-yuktā muralī cāru-nādinā ||367||
Translation
The sweet-sounding muralī is two hands long (twenty-four fingers or eighteen inches long) with a hole at the end and four holes for producing sounds.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
Muralī is about eighteen inches long with a hole at the end and four holes on the body of the flute. This kind of flute produces a very enchanting sound.
