yathā –
amara-ripu-vadhūṭī-bhrūṇa-hatyā-vilāsī
tridiva-pura-purandhrī-vṛnda-nāndīkaro ’yam |
bhramati bhuvana-madhye mādhavādhmāta-dhāmnaḥ
kṛta-pulaka-kadambaḥ kambu-rājasya nādaḥ ||377||
Translation
The sound of the king of conches, Pāṣcajanya, blown by Kṛṣṇa, wanders throughout the world, causing abortions in the wives of the demons, announcing auspiciousness to the inhabitants of Svarga, and making the hair stand on end.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
The expression “causing abortions in the wives the demons” indicates chastising the demons by Kṛṣṇa’s playful action. Nāndīkaraḥ means a public reciter of good news. Mādhavādhmāta-dhāmnaḥ means “whose body is blown by Mādhava.”

It is said that when Lord Kṛṣṇa blows on His transcendental conchshell, the wives of the demons become subject to abortions, and the wives of the demigods become blessed with all auspiciousness. In this way, the sound of Kṛṣṇa’s conchshell used to vibrate and circulate all over the world.
