Verse Text
yathā –
tadātvābhivyaktīkṛta-taruṇimārambha-rabhasaṁ
smita-śrī-nirdhūta-sphurad-amala-rākā-pati-madam |
darodaṣcat-paṣcāśuga-nava-kalā-meduram idaṁ
murārer mādhuryaṁ manasi madirākṣīr madayati ||64||
Translation
Filled with the joy of recently manifested youth, the sweetness of Murāri, defeating the spotless, full moon with the effulgence of His smile, and made soft with a hint of the fresh sports of Cupid, gives great joy to the minds of the sweet-eyed gopīs.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
This verse is cited in order to show the supreme position of the greatest rasa called śṛṅgara-rasa. Tadātva means “at that time,” according to Amara-kośa. And also according to the same work, dara means “slightly.”

At this age Kṛṣṇa is described as follows: “The force of Kṛṣṇa’s youth was combined with His beautiful smile, which defeated even the beauty of the full moon. He was always nicely dressed, in beauty surpassing even Cupid, and He was always attracting the minds of the gopīs, who were thereby always feeling pleasure.”
