yathā –
śaraj-jyotsnā-tulyaḥ katham api paro nāsti samayas
trilokyām ākṛīḍaḥ kvacid api na vṛndāvana-samaḥ |
na kāpy ambhojākṣī vraja-yuvati-kalpeti vimṛśan
mano me sotkaṇṭhaṁ muhur ajani rāsotsava-rase ||99||
Translation
There is no time compared to the autumn season in the moonlight. There is not place of amusement equal to Vṛndāvana in the three worlds. There are no lotus-eyed women like the young women of Vraja. Considering this, My heart longs for the taste of the rāsa dance.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
This verse illustrates how Kṛṣṇa is expert at judging suitable time, place and person for the rāsa dance. This statement occurs in a discussion when Kṛṣṇa speaks to Uddhava in Mathurā.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
How He could take advantage of a particular time, circumstance and person is expressed by Him while talking to Uddhava about His rāsa dance with the gopīs. He says, “The most opportune time is the full-moon night in autumn, like tonight. The best place within the universe is Vṛndāvana, and the most beautiful girls are the gopīs. So, My dear friend Uddhava, I think I should now take advantage of all these circumstances and engage Myself in the rāsa dance.”
