Verse Text
te stambha-sveda-romāṣcāḥ svara-bhedo ’tha vepathuḥ |
vaivarṇyam aśru pralaya ity aṣṭau sāttvikāḥ smṛtāḥ ||16||
Translation
The eight sāttvika bhāvas are paralysis, perspiration, hairs standing on end, choking of the voice, trembling, changing color, tears, and fainting.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
There are eight symptoms of existential ecstatic love: becoming stunned, perspiring, standing of the hairs on the body, faltering of the voice, trembling of the body, changing of bodily colors, shedding of tears and devastation.
