tatrāśrūṇāṁ dṛg-aucchūnya-kāritvam avadātatā |
tathā tārātivaicitrī-vailakṣaṇya-vidhāyitā |
vaisvarṇyasya tu bhinnatve kauṇṭhya-vyākulatādayaḥ ||66||
Translation
The special features of tears are swelling of the eyes and whiteness of the eyes. The pupils of the eyes become extremely colorful. The special features of choking of the voice are breaking of the voice, weakness of the voice and fluctuation of tone.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
The shedding of tears, however, sometimes makes the eyes become swollen and whitish, and sometimes the lenses of the eyes become differently focused. Faltering of the voice may sometimes cause choking in the throat and extreme anxiety. As the different symptoms of these ecstatic manifestations are localized, they are accompanied by different local reactions;
