yathā vā –
kim unmīlaty asre kusumaja-rajo gaṣjasi mudhā
sa-romāṣce kampe himam anilam ākrośasi kutaḥ |
kim ūru-stambhe vā vana-viharaṇaṁ dvekṣi sakhi te
nirābādhā rādhe vadati madanādhiṁ svara-bhidā ||78||
Translation
Another example: O Rādhā, my friend! Because tears have come to your eyes, why are you uselessly scolding the flower pollen? Because your hairs are standing on end and your body is quivering, why are you uselessly scolding the cool wind? Because your limbs have become paralyzed, why are you uselessly showing anger about walking in the forest? Your choked voice which you cannot hide reveals the pain of love.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Kim here means “why.” The word uselessly (mudhā) should be supplied to all the statements. By the word rādhe in the vocative case, it is understood that the person being described is Rādhā. The exceptional state of her love is indicated by describing her attainment of sāttvika-bhāvas for Kṛṣṇa. Nirābādha means that it is not possible for her to do otherwise by some deception.

When similar symptoms were manifest in the body of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī, some of Her friends criticized Her: “Dear friend, You are blaming the aroma of the flowers for the tears in Your eyes. You are rebuking the air for the standing of the hairs on Your body. And You are cursing Your walking in the forest for Your thighs’ being stunned. But Your faltering voice reveals the cause to be different: it is just Your attachment for Kṛṣṇa!”
