atha (18) vrīḍā –
navīna-saṅgamākāryas tavāvajṣādinā kṛtā |
adhṛṣṭatā bhaved vrīḍā tatra maunaṁ vicintanam |
avaguṇṭhana-bhū-lekhau tathādhomukhatādayaḥ ||113||
Translation
The state of bashfulness, the opposite of audacity, arising from just meeting one’s lover, from performing forbidden actions, from praise or neglect is called vrīḍā (shyness). In this state there is silence, anxiety, covering the head, writing on the ground, and hanging the head.
