atha svatantrāḥ –
sadaiva pāratantrye ’pi kvacid eṣāṁ svatantratā |
bhūpāla-sevakasyeva pravṛttasya kara-grahe ||216||
Translation
Svatantra (independent) vyabhicāri-bhāvas: Though all the vyabhicāri-bhāvas are dependent to some degree, they manifest some independence. Though the employees of the king are dependent on the king, at the time of collecting the king’s taxes or during marriages, they show independence from the king.
