etena sahajenaiva bhāvenānugatā ratiḥ |
eka-rūpāpi yā bhakter vividhā pratibhāty asau ||254||
Translation
By this natural bhāva, rati (attraction or love) is appears. Though rati is one in speaking about it generally, it appears in various forms when wishing to describe its various qualities.

That rati which is acquired by that natural bhāva, though only one when speaking of it generally, takes many forms such as śānta and dāsya, when speaking of the different qualities such as śānta in the various types of devotees.

All of them can be accepted as different feelings of the heart. Sometimes some of the feelings are quite natural. Sometimes some of the feelings are just temporary appearances. Those symptoms which are very natural always remain, both within and without the devotee.
