Translation

May the eternal person who manifested the beautiful form of a cowherd boy and distributed His bhāvas to the form of Rāma as well, be pleased with the southern section of the ocean of nectar.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

May Sanātana Gosvāmī, nourisher of the glory of Gopāla-bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī and Rūpa Gosvāmī, and distributor of the prema of Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, be pleased with this southern section of the ocean of nectar! Thus ends the Fifth Wave concerning sthāyi-bhāva in the Southern Section of Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu. Here ends the Southern Section. Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī has admitted that it may be difficult for readers to understand portions of the text, and therefore wrote a commentary to elucidate certain points. Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī has written an additional commentary. In the Eastern Section, Jīva’s complete commentary has been translated, and Viśvanātha’s commentary has been fully translated with the exception of portions which are identical to Jīva’s commentary. The other Sections in general have less extensive commentaries. For these portions Jīva’s commentary has been fully translated and Viśvanātha’s has been translated where additional points are made. In some cases he explains the meaning of the verses quoted and these have simply been incorporated in the translation of the verse without translating the commentary. 3 The Western Section Defining the Five Principal Bhakti-rasas 3.1 The First Wave Concerning Śānta-bhakti-rasa In the Western Section of Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu Outline of Śānta-rasa I.
