tatrāsakti-kṛd anyatra prīti-saṁhāriṇī hy asau ||28||
Translation
This prīti-rati produces attachment for the object of worship and destroys affection for other objects.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
This is a further explanation. The author shows the specific quality of this prīti. Hi indicates a reason (because) and tatra means “for Kṛṣṇa.” This rati (asau) for Kṛṣṇa (tatra), which is called prīti, which accepts Kṛṣṇa as worshipable, produces attachment to Kṛṣṇa and destroys attachment to all other persons or things. When this prīti-rati manifests for Kṛṣṇa, rati for other objects is destroyed. Where there is attraction for other objects in prīti-rati, it should be understood that these objects are related to Kṛṣṇa.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
To such a devotee the concept of inferiority to the Lord is very prominent, and he rarely takes interest in any other kind of transcendental loving humor with the Lord.
