Verse Text
tathā coktam –
aṣṭānām eva bhāvānāṁ saṁskārādhāyitā matā |
tat-tiraskṛta-saṁskārāḥ pare na sthāyitocitāḥ ||51||
Translation
Therefore, it is said: In a devotee, one of the five primary sthāyi-bhāvas and the seven secondary bhāvas, together making eight bhāvas, produce lasting impressions (even though they may externally disappear for some time). Since the impressions of the vyabhicāri-bhāvas disappear after they are covered by these eight, the vyabhicāri-bhāvas are not considered to be sthāyi-bhāvas.
