Verse Text
ratitvāt prathamaikaiva sapta hāsādayas tathā |
ity aṣṭau sthāyino yāvad rasāvasthāṁ na saṁśritāḥ ||73||
Translation
As long as one among the five primary ratis along with the seven secondary ratis does not attain the state of rasa in an individual, the eight are called sthāyi-bhāvas.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Prathamā here means primary ratis. If the eight attain the state of rasa, then they are called rasas, not sthāyi-bhāvas.
