atha sāttvikāḥ – romāṣca-sveda-kampādyāḥ sāttvikāḥ pralayaṁ vinā ||30||

Translation

Sāttivika-bhāvas: In śānta rasa all the sāttvika-bhāvas such as standing of hair on end, perspiration, shaking of the body occur. However, fainting (pralaya) does not occur.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

For those in śānta-rasa, the behavior on attaining samādhi on the form of the Lord and in realizing the formless brahman have some characteristics of pralaya, [Note: In pralaya there is non-functioning of action and knowledge senses, and symptoms such as falling on the ground. This is described in 2.3.58] but there is no falling on the ground. Thus, it is said in this verse that there is no pralaya.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

It is sometimes found that a devotee in the śānta-rasa falls down on the ground, his hairs stand up on his body, and he trembles all over. In this way, different symptoms of ecstatic trance are exhibited automatically by such devotees.
