Verse Text

tatra ādyā, yathā – samādhau yoginas tasminn asamprajṣāta-nāmani | līlayā mayi labdhe ’sya babhūvotkampinī tanuḥ ||36||

Translation

Sama-śānta-rati: When I playfully revealed Myself to the yogī absorbed in asamprajṣāta-samādhi, his body began to shake to the extreme.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

This is a statement of the Lord. That state of samādhi in which one realizes the form of brahman with no functioning of the mind is called asamprajṣāta-samādhi.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

When a mystic is transcendental to all kinds of mental concoctions and is situated in Brahman, his state is called trance, beyond the influence of the material conception of life. In that stage, when one hears about the transcendental pastimes of the Lord, there may be shivering in the body.
