Translation
Seeing the Lord: O Bhagavān, because you are filled with more bliss than the brahman, being the supreme soul, and because I have experienced intense bliss from seeing You directly, what is the necessity of realizing the impersonal brahman?
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
“O Bhagavān! O person endowed with infinite qualities and surpassing all others! Because of experiencing the highest bliss on directly meeting You, what is the additional necessity of realizing brahman, the great form of impersonal bliss (brahma-vidaḥ)?”
“Well, that brahman without qualities is the ultimate form of all things. Since it is the most excellent of all things, from directly realizing that brahman, one will experience the greatest pleasure. What can be accomplished by realizing something endowed with qualities?”
“Brahman may be the ātmā or svarūpa of all things. But Bhagavān, because He is superior to brahman, because He is the supreme ātmā (paramātmatayā), has more bliss (atimedurāt). This is understood from the Bhagavad-gītā Upaniṣad: brahmaṇo hi prathiṣṭāham: I am the basis of brahman. As well Śukadeva has said:
kṛṣṇam enam avehi tvam ātmānam akhilātmanām
jagad-dhitāya so ’py atra dehīvābhāti māyayā
You should know Kṛṣṇa to be the original soul of all living entities. For the benefit of the whole universe, He has, out of His causeless mercy, appeared as an ordinary human being. He has done this by the strength of His internal potency.” SB 10.14.55
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
In this connection one of the mystics approached Kṛṣṇa and said, “My dear Lord, You are always full with transcendental bliss, excelling all other spiritual positions. And so, simply by seeing You from a distant place, I have come to the conclusion that there is no need of my being situated in the transcendental bliss of impersonal Brahman.”
