nirvedo viṣaye sthāyī tattva-jṣānodbhavaḥ sa cet | iṣṭāniṣṭa-viyogāpti-kṛtas tu vyabhicāry asau ||51||

Translation

If nirveda (self-deprecation) arises from knowledge of the absolute truth, then it can be called a sthāyi-bhāva directed to the Lord. But if it arises from deprivation of dear items or attainment of detested items, it is a vyabhicāri-bhāva.
