śrīdhara-svāmibhiḥ spaṣṭam ayam eva rasottamaḥ |
raṅga-prasaṅge sa-premakākhyaḥ prakīrtitaḥ ||1||
Translation
Śrīdhara Svāmī, in talking about rasa, [Note: Commentary on SB 10.43.17] has clearly glorified this as the highest rasa, calling it saprema-bhakti (bhakti filled with prema).

The transcendental mellow of affection has been accepted by authorities like Śrīdhara Svāmī as a perfectional stage of devotion. It is just above the humor of neutrality and is a requisite for the development of the serving humor.
