Verse Text

unmādo, yathā – proṣite bata nijādhidaivate raivate navam avekṣya nīradam | bhrānta-dhīr ayam adhīram uddhavaḥ paśya nauti ramate namasyati ||125||

Translation

An example of unmāda (insanity) in viyoga: When his personal deity went away, Uddhava became confused in mind. Look, seeing a fresh cloud on Raivata Mountain, he is praising it, frolicking about, and offering his respects to it.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Uddhava’s craziness was practically proved when he went to Raivataka Hill to minutely observe the congested black clouds. In his disturbed condition, he began to pray to these clouds, and he expressed his jubilation by bowing down before them.
