Verse Text
tatra nīcāsana-niveśanam, yathā –
yadu-sadasi surendrair drāg upavrajyamānāḥ
sukhada-karaka-vārbhir brahmaṇābhyukṣitāṅgaḥ |
madhuripum abhivandya svarṇa-pīṭhāni muṣcan
bhuvam abhi makarāṅko rāṅkavaṁ svīcakāra ||159||
Translation
Sitting lower than Kṛṣṇa: Following behind the best of devatās and sprinkled with water by Brahmā, Pradyumna entered the assembly and offered respects to Kṛṣṇa. Avoiding a golden seat, he sat on deer skin spread on the floor.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Upavrajyamānaḥ means being led, with the devatās in front. Instead of muṣcan, tyaktaṁ is sometimes seen. Rāṅkavam means the skin of the raṅku deer

When demigods from the heavenly planets came to Śrī Kṛṣṇa, all of Kṛṣṇa’s sons followed them, and Lord Brahmā sprinkled water from his kamaṇḍalu upon them. When the demigods came before Kṛṣṇa, the sons, instead of sitting on golden chairs, sat down on the floor, which was covered with deerskin.
