Verse Text

atha sevā-niṣṭhāḥ – mūlato bhajanāsaktāḥ sevā-niṣṭhā itīritāḥ | candradhvajo harihayo bahulāśvas tathā nṛpāḥ | ikṣvākuḥ śrutadevāś ca puṇḍarīkādayaś ca te ||29||

Translation

Sevā-niṣṭhās: Those who from the beginning are attached to serving the Lord are called sevā-niṣṭhā, fixed in service. Examples are Candradhvaja (Śiva), Indra, King Bahulāśva, Ikṣvāku, Śrutadeva and Puṇḍarīka.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Those who are from the very beginning of their self-realization attached to devotional service are called sevā-niṣṭha. Sevā-niṣṭha means “simply attached to devotional service.” The best examples of such devotees are Lord Śiva, King Indra, King Bahulāśva, King Ikṣvāku, Śrutadeva and Puṇḍarīka.
