muralī-śṛṅgayoḥ svānaḥ smita-pūrvāvalokanam |
guṇotkarṣa-śrutiḥ padma-padāṅka-nava-nīradāḥ |
tad-aṅga-saurabhādyās tu sarvaiḥ sādhāraṇā matāḥ ||59||
Translation
The sound of His flute and horn, His glance with a slight smile, hearing the excellence of His qualities, the lotus, the marks on His feet, new clouds, and the fragrance of His body are considered the regular uddīpanas. [Note: Such uddīpanas are common to other types of devotees as well.]
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Smita-pūrvāvalokanam means Kṛṣṇa’s smiling glance; guṇotkarṣa-śrutiḥ means hearing about Kṛṣṇa’s excellent qualities; and padāṅka means Kṛṣṇa’s foot marks. [Note: From this it appears that any cloud or lotus will stimulate the servants’ dāsya-prema.]
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
Sometimes the vibration of Lord Kṛṣṇa’s flute, His bugling, His smiling, His footmarks on the ground, the transcendental fragrance of His body and the appearance of a new cloud in the sky also become impetuses for ecstatic love of Him.
