Verse Text
yathā vā –
tvaṁ kalāsu vimukho ’pi nartanaṁ
prema-nāṭya-guruṇāsi pāṭhitaḥ |
yad vicitra-gati-caryayāṣcitaś
citrayasy ahaha cāraṇān api ||65||
Translation
Another example: Though you are not an expert at dancing, you have astonished us dancers so much with your spectacular routine that one would think that you learned dancing from the guru of dance called prema.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Though you are not interested in the arts (tvam kalāsu vimukho ’pi), because you performed attractive movements (vicitra-gati-caryayāṣcitaḥ) and have astonished even us expert dancers (cāraṇān api citrayasi), you must have learned that dancing from the teacher of dance called prema. In the verse, cāraṇān (meaning professional dancers) means those who are like professional dancers by their expertise.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
One of the devotees of Lord Kṛṣṇa once addressed Him in this manner: “My dear Lord, although You are not a professional dancer, by Your dancing You have so astonished us that we can understand that You are personally the master of all dancing. Certainly You must have learned this dancing art directly from the goddess of love.”
