Verse Text
yathā –
śuddhāntān militaṁ bāṣpa-ruddha-vāg uddhavo harim |
kiṣcit-kuṣcita-netrāntaḥ svāntena pariṣasvaje ||92||
Translation
An example: Seeing the Lord coming out of the inner chambers, Uddhava’s eyes become filled with tears and his voice choked up. Closing his eyes slightly, he embraced the Lord in his heart.

Embracing the Lord is a sign of sakhya (friendship).

Uddhava is given as an example. Though praṇaya is possible in some of the anugas in Vraja, Uddhava also is famous for possessing a portion of praṇaya. [Note: Praṇaya is defined as friendship with absence of reverence (3.3.108). This appears in the sakhas.] This is illustrated in the following verse:
athaitat paramaṁ guhyaṁ śṛṇvato yadu-nandana
su-gopyam api vakṣyāmi tvaṁ me bhṛtyaḥ suhṛt sakhā
My dear Uddhava, O beloved of the Yadu dynasty, because you are My servant, well-wisher and friend, I shall now speak to you the most confidential knowledge. Please hear as I explain these great mysteries to you. SB 11.11.49
Śuddāntāt means “from the inner chambers.”
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
When Uddhava was freed from all material contamination, he saw the Lord, and his throat became choked up, and he could not speak. By the movements of his eyebrows alone he was embracing the Lord.
