yathā –
tri-catura-daśana-sphuran-mukhenduṁ
pṛthutara-madhya-kaṭi-rakoru-sīmā |
nava-kuvalaya-komalaḥ kumāro
mudam adhikāṁ vraja-nāthayor vyatānīt ||20||
Translation
An example: This young boy, showing three or four teeth, with chubby waist and thighs, who was as soft as a fresh blue lotus, gave extraordinary joy to Nanda and Yaśodā.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Tri-catura-daśana means three or four teeth. In order to express doubt, this bahuvrīhi compound is formed. It suggests, by this doubt, that the teeth must have been very small, and thus difficult to see and count. Sīmā (boundary) here means that Kṛṣṇa was the abode of a fat waist and thighs.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
He is described as follows: “When Kṛṣṇa had only three or four teeth coming out of His gums, His thighs were fatty, His body was very, very short, and He began to enhance the parental love of Nanda Mahārāja and Mother Yaśodā with the activities of His childish body.
