atha śaiśava-cāpalam –
pārīr bhinatti vikiraty ajire dadhīni
santānikāṁ harati kṛntati mantha-daṇḍam |
vahnau kṣipaty avirataṁ nava-nītam itthaṁ
mātuḥ pramoda-bharam eva haris tanoti ||39||
Translation
Insolence of His kaiśora age: Kṛṣṇa gave bliss to mother Yaśodā by breaking the milk pots, scattering the yogurt, stealing the cream off the milk, breaking the churning rod, and constantly throwing butter into the fire.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Pārīḥ refers to drinking vessels according to Kṣīrasvāmī. So, it means milk pots. People of Mathurā say it means clay vessels with lids. Santānikām refers to the cream layer on top of the milk. Instead of kṣipaty avirataṁ (He constantly threw butter), sometimes kṣipaty api muhūr (same meaning) is seen.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
When Kṛṣṇa performs His childish pastimes, His general practice is to break the milk and yogurt pots, throw the yogurt in the courtyard and steal the cream from the milk. Sometimes He breaks the churning rod, and sometimes He throws butter on the fire. In this way, He increases the transcendental pleasure of His mother, Yaśodā.
