cāpalam –
kim iva kurute harmye tiṣṭhann ayaṁ nirapatrapo
vrajapatir iti brūte mugdho ’yam atra mudā janaḥ |
ahaha tanayaṁ prāṇebhyo ’pi priyaṁ parihṛtya taṁ
kaṭhina-hṛdayo goṣṭhe svairī praviśya sukhīyati ||70||
Translation
Cāpalam (insolence): What is this shameless person doing sitting in the mansion? Ignorant people call him the lord of Vraja while smiling. How astonishing! (It is true.) Giving up a son dearer than life, this hard-hearted person, entering the village freely, thinks he is happy.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
These are the words of Yaśodā, filled with sorrow, talking about Nanda. People who are ignorant in this world (atra mugdhaḥ janaḥ), strangers who are actually inimical, call him the lord of Vraja, while smiling (mudā). However, such words of enemies are quite suitable, for he has given up his son, and still appears happy, strolling freely about the village in happiness.

Sometimes, in restlessness like a madwoman, Mother Yaśodā used to accuse Nanda Mahārāja, “What are you doing in the palace? You shameless man! Why do people call you the King of Vraja? It is very astonishing that while being separated from your dear son Kṛṣṇa, you are still living within Vṛndāvana as a hardhearted father!”
