Verse Text
āhuka-prabhṛtīnāṁ tu prītir vātsalya-miśritā |
jarad-ābhīrikādīnāṁ vātsalyaṁ sakhya-miśritam ||82||
Translation
Ugrasena and others have dāsya, mixed with some vatsala. Aged gopīs have vatsala mixed with sakhya.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
The element of sakhya in the elderly gopīs is because of a slight joking mood in their relationship with Kṛṣṇa.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
Similarly, the transcendental mellow of Ugrasena, Kṛṣṇa’s grandfather, is mixed with servitude and parental affection. The affection of all the elderly gopīs in Vṛndāvana is a mixture of parental love, servitude and fraternity.
