Verse Text
mādreya-nāradādīnāṁ sakhyaṁ prītyā karambitam |
rudra-tārkṣyoddhavādīnāṁ prītiḥ sakhyena miśritā ||83||
Translation
Nakula, Sahadeva, Nārada and others have sakhya mixed with prīti (dāsya). Śiva, Garuḍa, Uddhava and others have prīti (dāsya) mixed with sakhya-rasa.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
The element of sakhya in Śiva and others is seen in relation to some forms of Viṣṇu and forms such as Ajita. [Note: Ajita churned the ocean along with the devatās.]
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
The affection of the sons of Mādrī-Nakula and Sahadeva—as well as the affection of the sage Nārada, is a mixture of friendship and servitude. The affection of Lord Śiva, Garuḍa and Uddhava is a mixture of servitude and fraternity.
