Verse Text
tyāgotsāha-ratir dhīraiḥ sthāyī bhāva ihoditaḥ |
tyāgecchā tādṛśī prauḍhā tyāgotsāha itīryate ||43||
Translation
The wise say that the sthāyi-bhāva of this rasa is tyāgotsāha-rati. Tyāgotsāha means the deep desire to reject things like the five types of liberation.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
In tyāgotsāha (resolution to renounce), there is full rejection of sārṣṭi etc. (and not things favorable for the devotee’s bhakti).
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
A person who wants to give everything in charity to Kṛṣṇa but does not want anything in return is considered the real renouncer. Thus, a devotee will refuse to accept any kind of liberation, even if it is offered by the Lord. Real love of Kṛṣṇa becomes manifested when Kṛṣṇa becomes the recipient of charity and the devotee becomes the giver.
