Verse Text

puṣṭiṁ nija-vibhāvādyair jugupsā-ratir āgatā | asau bhakti-raso dhīrair bībhatsākhya itīryate ||1||

Translation

When jugupsā-rati is nourished by its vibhāvas and other elements, it is called bībhatsa-bhakti-rasa by the wise.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Ghastliness It is understood from authoritative sources that an attachment for Kṛṣṇa because of feelings of disgust sometimes presents a ghastly ecstasy in devotional service.
