Verse Text
tatraiva bībhatsasya, yathā –
smaran prabhu-pādāmbhojaṁ naṭann aṭati vaiṣṇavaḥ |
yas tu dṛṣṭyā padminīnām api suṣṭhu hṛṇīyate ||
atra mukhye gauṇasya | ||24||
Translation
An example with dāsya-rasa (primary) as aṅgī, and bībhatsa (secondary) as aṅga: The Vaiṣṇava who feels disgust upon seeing lotus-like women wanders about dancing on remembering the lotus feet of the Lord.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Aṭati means “he wanders about.” Hṛṇīyate means “he feels disgust.” Other versions of the text are rejected.
Purport (Nectar of Devotion)
There is another statement as follows: “Please look at this devotee of the Lord who is dancing just from remembering the lotus feet of Kṛṣṇa. Simply by observing his dance you will lose all interest in even the most beautiful women!” In this statement the whole is in neutrality, and the part is in ghastliness.
