Verse Text

tathā ca nāṭyācāryāḥ paṭhanti – eka eva bhavet sthāyī raso mukhyatamo hi yaḥ | rasās tad-anuyāyitvād anye syur vyabhicāriṇaḥ ||43||

Translation

The authors on drama say: the predominating rasa is the sthāyi-bhāva. All other rasas will become vyabhicāri in nature, since they follow the predominating rasa.

Purport (Nectar of Devotion)

Expert analysts of these various kinds of mellows instruct us that when different mellows overlap one another, the mellow which is the whole, or the prominent humor, is called the permanent ecstasy.
