Translation

Moreover, since in persons such as Yudhiṣṭhira inimical rasas such as dāsya and vatsala manifest at two different times, there is no fault.

Purport (Jiva Goswami)

Though there are combinations of inimical bhāvas in Yudhiṣṭhira and others (dharma-sutādiṣu), such combinations are acceptable because they appear at different times. In Yudhiṣṭhira there are seen a combination of dāsya, vatsala and sakhya-rasas. He has dāsya towards Kṛṣṇa, from knowledge that He is his Lord. He has vatsala-rasa towards Kṛṣṇa because he identifies himself as Kṛṣṇa’s elder. He has sakhya-rasa towards Kṛṣṇa because he is not much older. This is similar to Balarāma, who has vatsala and sakhya relationships with Kṛṣṇa. There is fault if the rasas are unsuitable to the particular condition. However, in this case there is no fault. In other unsuitable cases, there will be fault. Those combinations which appear contradictory in the Bhāgavatam are resolved in the Bhagavat-sandarbha and Prīti-sandarbha.
