cri-nārada uvāca - Sri Nārada said; ekadā - one day; caila-decesu - on the hill; sa-balaḥ - with Balarāma; bhagavān - Lord; hariḥ - Krsna; krtvā - doing; vilāpana-kriḍām - the pastime of disappearing; caura - thieves; pālaka - police; laksanām - characterized by.
Sri Nārada said: One day on Govardhana Hill Krsna, Balarāma, and the boys played a game of theives and police.

Translation
tatra - there; vyomāsuraḥ - Vyomasura; daityaḥ - demon; bālān - the boys; mesayitān - pretending to be lambs; bahun - many; nitvā - stealing; nitvā - raking; adri-daryām - to a mountain cave; ca - and; viniksipya - placing; punaḥ - again; punaḥ - and again.
The demon Vyomāsura came there and, one by one, took away the boys pretending to be lambs and imprisoned them in a mountain cave.

maya-putro mahā-balaḥ

Translation
cilayā - with a rock; pidadhe - covered; dvāram - the entrance; maya-putraḥ - teh son of Maya; mahā-balaḥ - very powerful; satya-cauram - a real thief; ca - and; tam - him; jnātvā - understanding; bhagavān madhusudanaḥ - Lord Krsna.
Then Vyoma, the son of Mayāsura, blocked the cave's entrance with a giant boulder. The Lord Krsna could understand that Vyomāsura was not pretending, but he had actually stolen the boys.

Translation
grhitvā - grabbing; pātayām āsa - threw; bhujābhyām - with both arms; bhumi-manḍale - to the ground.
Krsna grabbed him in both arms and threw him to the gorund.

Translation
tadā - then; mrtyum - death; gataḥ - attained; daityaḥ - the demon; taj-jyotiḥ - his light; nirgatam - left; sphurat - glistening; daca-diksu - in the ten directions; bhramat - wandered; rājan - O king; cri-krsne - into Sri Krsna; linatām - merged; gatam - attained.
When the demon died an effulgence left his body and wandered in the ten directions until it finally merged into Lord Krsna.

Translation

Sounds of "Victory! Victory!" filled the sky and the earth. The happy demigods showered flowers.

Sri Bahulācva said: What pious deeds had Vyomāsura done in his previous birth that he was able to merge into Lord Krsna as a lightning flash merges into a dark raincloud?

cri-nārada uvāca - Sri Nārada said; āsit - was; kācyām - in Varanasi; bhimarathaḥ - Bhimaratha; rājā - King; dāna - to charity; parāyanaḥ - devoted; yajna-krt - a performer of yajnas; māna-daḥ - respectful top others; dhanvi - an expert archer; visnu-bhakti-parāyanaḥ - a great devotee of Lord Visnu.
Sri Nārada said: He was a great king named Bhimaratha, who lived in the city of Vārānasi. He was charitable, a performer of many yajnas, respectful, an expert archer, and a great devotee of Lord Visnu.

rājye - in the kingdom; putram - his son; sannivecya - placing; jagāma - went; malayācalam - to the Malaya hills; tapaḥ - austerities; tatra - there; samārebhe - performed; varsānām - of years; laksam - a hundred thousand; eva - indeed; hi - indeed.
After some time he gave his kingdom to his son and went to the Malaya Hills, where he performed austerities for a hundred thousand years.

tasya - of him; ācrame - in the asrama; pulastyaḥ - Pulastya Muni; asau - he; cisya-vrndaiḥ - with many disciples; samāgataḥ - came; tam - him; drstvā - seeing; na - not; utthitaḥ - stood up; māni - proud; rājarsiḥ - the royal sage; na - not; nataḥ - bowed down; abhavat - did.
One day the great sage Pulastya Muni, accompanied by many disciples, came to the king-sage's ācrama. The king-sage, filled with pride, neither stood up nor bowed down to greet his guest.

Translation
cāpam - a curse; dadau - gave; pulastyaḥ - Pulastya; api - also; daityaḥ - a demon; bhava - become; mahā-khala - rascal; tataḥ - then; tam - to him; caranopānte - at the feet; patitam - fallen; caranāgatam - taking shelter.
Pulastya cursed him, "Wretch! Now become a demon!" The king then fell at the sage's feet and surrendered to him.

uvāca - spoke; muni-cārdulaḥ - the tiger of sages; pulastyaḥ - Pulastya; dina-vatsalaḥ - compassionate on the suffering; dvāparānte - at the end of Dvapara-yuga; māthure - in Mathura; ca - and; punye - sacred; cri-vraja-manḍale - in the circle of Vraja; yadu-vamca-pateḥ - from the king of the Yadu dynasty; sāksāc - directly; cri-krsnasya - of zKrsna; bhuja - of the arms; ojasā - by the strength; ipsitā - desired; yogibhiḥ - by the yogis; muktiḥ - lberation; bhavisyati - will be; na - no; samcayaḥ - doubt.
Then Pulastya, the tiger among the sages, who is kind to the suffering, said: At the end of Dvāpara-yuga, in the district of Māthura, in the circle of Vraja, the strength of the arms of Sri Krsna, the king of the Yadu dynasty, will give you the liberation desired by the yogis. Of this there is no doubt.

Sri Nārada said: O king of Videha, then King Bhimaratha became the son of the demon Mayāsura, and the power of Lord Krsna's arms gave him liberation.

ekadā - one day; gopa-bālesu - among the gopa boys; daityaḥ - a demon; aristaḥ - Arista; mahā-balaḥ - very powerful; āgataḥ - came; nādayan - filling with sound; kham - the sky; gam - the earth; tatāt - from the sides; crggaiḥ - with horns; vidārayan - tearing up.
One day a demon bull named Arista, his bellowing filling the earth and sky with sound and his horns tearing up great mountains, charged the gopa boys.

gopyaḥ - the gopis; gopa - gopas; go-ganāc - cows; ca - and; viksya - seeing; tam - him; dudruvuḥ - fled; bhayāt - out of fear; bhagavān - the Lord; daitya - of demons; hā - the slayer; devaḥ - the Lord; mā - don't; bhaista - fear' iti - thus; abhayam - fearlessness; dadau - gave.
Seeing the demon-bull, the gopas, gopis, and cows all fled in fear. Then Lord Krsna, the slayer of demons, reassured them, saying, "Don't be afraid."

Grabbing its horns, Lord Krsna threw the demon sixteen miles. Then the demon also threw Sri Krsna sixteen miles.

Grabbing its tail, and whirling it around and around, with the power of His arms Lord Krsna threw the demon to the ground as a child throws a kamanḍalu.

aristaḥ - Arista; punaḥ - again; utthāya - rising; krodha-samrakta-locanaḥ - its eyes red with anger; crggaic - with horns; ca - and; rohitam - tall; cailam - mountain; samutpātya - uprooting; mahā-khalaḥ - great demon.
Its eyes red with anger, Arista stood up again. Then with its horns it uprooted a great mountain.

garjayan - roaring; ghanavat - like thunder; viraḥ - the warrior; krsnopari - on Lord Krsna; samaksipat - threw; krsnaḥ - Krsna; cailam - the mountain; saggrhitvā - catching; tasyopari - on the demon; samaksipat - threw.
Roaring like thunder, the demon threw the mountain at Lord Krsna. Krsna caught it and threw it back at the demon.

Translation
cailasya - of the mountain; api - also; prahārena - by the blow; kincit - somewhat; vyākula-mānasaḥ - disturbed at heart; bhumau - on the ground; tatāda - struck; crggāgrān - horns; nirgatam - gone; taiḥ - by them; jalam - water; bhuvaḥ - on the gorund.
Hit by the mountain, the demon became a little agitated. It struck the ground. With its horns it tore the earth and splashed the water.

Grabbing its horns, and whirling it around and around, Sri Krsna threw the demon to the ground as a great wind picks up and throws a lotus flower.

Leaving the form of a demon-bull, that soul assumed the form of a brāhmana. Bowing before Lord Krsna's lotus feet, he spoke words choked with emotion.

The brāhmana said: I am a brāhmana. I am a student of Brhaspati. My name is Varatantu. I approached Brhaspati to study under him.

One day I sat with my feet facing him. Angry, the sage said, "You sit as a bull sits.

By associating with demons, I became a demon also. By Your mercy I am now freed from that curse of being a demon.

cri-nārada uvāca - Sri Nārada said; ity - thus; uktvā - saying; cri-harim - to Lord Krsna; natvā - bowing; sāksāc - directly; chisyaḥ - the student; brhaspateḥ - of Brhaspati; dyotayan - spreading light; bhuvanam - on the worlds; rājan - O king; vimānena - by airplane; divam - to heaven; yayau - went.
Sri Nārada said: O king, after speaking these words, the student of Brhaspati bowed before Lord Krsna. His effulgence filling the worlds with light, he went by heavenly airplane to the higher worlds.

idam - this; mayā - by me; te - to you; kathitam - spoken; khanḍam - canto; mādhuryam - sweet; adbhutam - wonderful; sarva-pāpa-haram - removing all sins; punyam - sacred; krsna-prāpti-karam - granting the attainment of Lord Krsna; param - transcendental.
Thus I have spoken to you the wonderful Mādhura-khanḍa, which removes all sins and gives one the association of Lord Krsna.

Translation
kāmadam - granting desires; pathatām - toi they who read; cacvat - always; kim - what?; bhuyaḥ - more; crotum - to hear; icchasi - you wish.
This khanḍa fulfills the desires of they who read it. What more do you wish to hear?
