vaiśampāyana uvāca
tataḥ saṁpūjya garuḍaṁ vāsudevo'numānya ca |
sakhivacchopagṛhyainamanujajṣe gṛhaṁ prati ||2-100-1
Translation
Vaiśampāyana said:
(O janamejaya!) Afterwards, the son of vasudeva (kṛṣṇa) worshipped and honoured garuḍa, considering him as a friend and gave permission to return to his home.
so'nujṣāto hi satkṛtya praṇamya ca janārdanam |
ūrdhvamācakrame pakṣī yatheṣṭaṁ gaganecharaḥ ||2-100-2
aAccepting the honour and receiving the permission, garuḍa bowed to the one who excites men (kṛṣṇa). The bird (garuḍa) who travels in the sky as he likes, rose up and flew away.
sa pakṣavātasaṅkṣubdhaṁ samudraṁ makarālayam |
kṛtvā vegena mahatā yayau pūṛvamahodadhim ||2-100-3
He agitated the ocean, the residence of sharks, by fanning his wings and reached the great ocean on the east with high speed.
kṛtyakāle upasthāsya ityuktvā garuḍe gate |
kṛṣṇo dadarsha pitaraṁ vṛddhamānakadundubhim ||2-100-4
After garuḍa went away saying: "I shall arrive as and when required", kṛṣṇa met his father, the aged Anakadundubhi (vasudeva - drums were beaten at the time of his birth).
ugrasenaṁ ca rājānaṁ baladevaṁ ca sātyakim |
kāśyaṁ sāndīpaniṁ caiva brahmagārgyaṁ tathaiva ca ||2-100-5
Afterwards, kṛṣṇa met king ugrasena, baladeva (balarāma) and sātyaki, sāndīpani of kāśi as also the brāhmin gārgya.
anyāṁścha vṛddhānvṛṣṇīnāṁ tāṁścha bhojāndhakāṁstathā |
ratnapravekairdāśārhānvīryalabdhaistathārchayat ||2-100-6
In the same manner, kṛṣṇa met the other old vṛṣṇi-s as well as bhoja-s and andhakās. kṛṣṇa honoured the dāśārha-s with the best jewels obtained by his valiance.
hatā brahmadviṣaḥ sarve jayantyandhakavṛṣṇayaḥ |
raṇātpratinivṛtto'yamakṣato madhusūdanaḥ ||2-100-7
"All those who hate brahma are killed. andhaka-s and vṛṣṇi-s are victorius. The slayer of madhu (kṛṣṇa ) has returned uninjured from battle."
iti chatvararathyāsu dvāravatyām supūjitaḥ |
cākriko ghoṣayāmāsa puruṣo mṛṣṭakuṇḍalaḥ ||2-100-8
This was announced by the announcer of the king's orders, wearing ear rings, respected by all, on all the crossings and roads of dvāraka.
tataḥ sāndīpaniṁ pūrvamabhigamya janārdanaḥ |
vavande vṛṣṇinṛpatimāhukaṁ vinayānvitaḥ ||2-100-9
Then the one who excites men (kṛṣṇa) first bowed to sāndīpani. Then he bowed to the lord of vṛṣṇi-s, Ahuka, (ugrasena) with humility.
tathā hi paripūrṇākṣamānandāgatachetasam |
vavande saha rāmeṇa pitaraṁ vāsavānujaḥ ||2-100-10
Then the younger brother of vāsava (kṛṣṇa), along with (bala)rāma, bowed to his father, w
hose eyes were filled with tears and whose mind was full of happiness.
upagamya tathā śeṣānsatkṛtya ca yathārhataḥ |
sarveṣāṁ nāma jagrāha dāśārhāṇāmadhokṣajaḥ ||2-100-11
Then, kṛṣṇa went to others and respected them as they deserve. Then adhokṣaja (kṛṣṇa) called all dāśārha-s by name.
tataḥ sarvāṇi divyāni sarvaratnamayāni ca |
āsanāgryāṇi viviśurupendrapramukhāstadā ||2-100-12
Then upendra (kṛśṇa) and all prominent (yādava-s) sat on the divine best seats, decorated all over by jewels.
tatastaddhanamakṣayyaṁ kiṅkarairyatsamāhṛtam |
tatsabhāmānayāmāsuḥ puruṣāḥ kṛṣṇaśāsanāt ||2-100-13
As ordered by kṛṣṇa, men brought the un-decaying wealth collected by kiṅkara to that assembly.
tataḥ sammānayāmāsa dāśārhāṁścha yadūttamaḥ |
sarvāndundubhiśabdena pūjayiṣyaṣjanārdanaḥ ||2-100-14
Then the best of yādava-s (kṛṣṇa) honoured all the dāśārha-s . The one who excites men (kṛṣṇa) worshipped all, accompanied by the sound of trumpets.
tāmāsanavatīṁ ramyāṁ maṇividrumatoraṇām |
sabhāṁ sarvadaśārhāste viviśuḥ kṛṣṇaśāsanāt ||2-100-15
As ordered by kṛṣṇa, all the dāśārha-s, entered and sat in the beautiful assembly, decorated by jewels, trees and arches, having best seats.
tataḥ puruṣasiṁhairyā yadubhiḥ sarvato vṛtā |
sarvārthaguṇasaṁpannā sā sabhā bharatarṣabha |
śuśubhe'bhyadhikaṁ śubhrā siṁhairgiriguhā yathā ||2-100-16
O the bull of bhārata race! (janamejaya! vaiśampāyana continued) Then that assembly with all the lions of yādava race became complete with all kinds of wealth and qualities, and dazzled brightest, like a mountain cave, resided by lions.
rāmeṇa saha govindaḥ kāṣchanaṁ mahadāsanam |
ugrasenaṁ puraskṛtya bhojavṛṣṇipuraskṛtaḥ ||2-100-17
govinda (kṛṣṇa), the one who was felicitated by bhoja-s and vṛṣṇi-s, keeping ugrasena in front, sat on a best golden seat, along with (bala)rāma.
tatropaviṣṭāṁstānvīrānyathāprītiryathāvayaḥ |
samābhāśya yaduśreṣṭhānuvāca puruṣottamaḥ ||2-100-18
The best among men (kṛṣṇa) called upon the valiant, the best of yādava race, who were seated, according to the order of age and position and said:
iti śrīmahābhārate khileṣu harivaṁśe viṣṇuparvaṇi sabhāpraveśanaṁ nāma śatatamo'dhyayaḥ
Thus this is the hundredth chapter of viṣṇuparva, harivaṁśa, khila of mahabhārata, Kṛṣṇa enters assembly hall
