arjuna said: (O yudhiṣthira!) Then kṛṣṇa fed many hundreds of sages and brāhmins as required and became satisfied by doing what is to be done. tataḥ saha mayā bhuktvā vṛṣṇibhojaiścha sarvaśaḥ | vicitrāścha kathā divyāḥ kathayāmāsa bhārata ||2-114-2 Then, O the one of bharata race (O yudhiṣṭhira)! Then along with me, all those vṛṣṇi-s and bhoja-s had food. We narrated wonderful as well as divine stories. tataḥ kathānte tatrāhamabhigamya janārdanam | apṛccaṁ tadyathāvṛttaṁ kṛṣṇaṁ yaddṛṣṭavānaham ||2-114-3 At the end of the narration of stories, I approached the one who agitates men (kṛṣṇa) directly. I asked kṛṣṇa about the incidents which took place. kathaṁ samudraḥ stabdhodaḥ kṛtastu kamalekṣaṇa | parvatānāṁ ca vivaraṁ kṛtaṁ tatkathamachyuta ||2-114-4 (arjuna said) O the one with eyes as beautiful as lotus (kṛṣṇa)! How did you freeze the ocean? O the one who does not suffer any fall! How did you gain access through the mountains? tamastaccha kathaṁ ghoraṁ ghanaṁ cakreṇa pāṭitam | taccha yatparamaṁ tejaḥ praviṣṭo'si kathaṁ ca tat ||2-114-5 How did you break the terrible, solid darkness with your cakra? How did you enter the most supreme splendor? kimarthaṁ tena te bālāstadā cāpahṛtāḥ prabho | yaccha te dīrghamadhvānaṁ saṅkṣiptaṁ tatkathaṁ punaḥ ||2-114-6 O lord! Why did that supreme splendor take away the boys? Afterwards, how did you again shorten the long way? kathaṁ cālpena kālena kṛtaṁ tattadgatāgatam | etatsarvaṁ yathāvṛttamācakṣva mama keshava ||2-114-7 How could we accomplish the going and coming in such a short time? O keshava (kṛṣṇa)! Please tell me all this in detail. vāsudeva uvāca yaddarśanārthaṁ te bālā hṛtāstena mahātmanā | viprārthameṣyate kṛṣṇo nāgacchedanyatheti ha ||2-114-8 The son of vasudeva (kṛṣṇa) said: That great soul took away the boys to see me. He knew that kṛṣṇa will come for the sake of the one who trembles (brāhmaṇa), otherwise he will not come. brahmatejomayaṁ divyaṁ mahadyaddṛṣṭavānasi | ahaṁ sa bharataśreṣṭha mattejastatsanātanam ||2-114-9 O the best among bharatas (arjuna!) The great and most superior brahma splendor you saw, is me. That is my eternal splendor. prakṛtiḥ sā mama parā vyaktāvyaktā sanātanī | yāṁ pravishya bhavantīha muktā yogaviduttamaḥ ||2-114-10 That is my true nature, my prime eternal nature, both explicit and implicit. Upon entering this, the best among those who practice yoga, will attain the supreme release. sa sāṅkhyānāṁ gatiḥ pārtha yogināṁ ca tapasvinām | tatpadaṁ paramaṁ brahma sarvaṁ vibhajate jagat ||2-114-11 O the son of pṛtha (arjuna!) That is the ultimate refuge of those who practice sāṅkhya, yoga and those who do penance. That supreme state of brahma makes this universe in large numbers. māmeva taddhanaṁ tejo jṣātumarhasi bhārata | samudraḥ stabdhatoyo'hamahaṁ stambhayitā jalam 2-114-12 O the one of bharata race (arjuna)! You should understand that I am that wealth of splendor. I am the ocean and the frozen water. You also saw the darkness appearing like full of dirt. ahaṁ tamo ghanībhūtamahameva ca pāṭakaḥ | ahaṁ ca kālo bhūtānāṁ dharmaścāhaṁ sanātanaḥ ||2-114-14 I am that solid darkness. I am the one who broke it. I am the death of all beings. I am the eternal dharma. candrādityau mahāśailāḥ saritashcha sarāṁsi ca | catasraśca diśaḥ sarvā mamaivātmā caturvidhaḥ ||2-114-15 The moon, the sun, the great mountains, the rivers and also the ocean - all are me. The four stages of life (student, house holder, anchorite and abandoner) came from me. O the one of bharata race! Also realize that I am the one who creates the four kinds of creations (jarāyuja - viviparous, aṇḍaja - egg born, svedaja - sweat born and udbhija - earth born - gītā press commentary) arjuna uvāca bhagavansarvabhūteśa vettumicchāmi te prabho | pṛchcāmi tvāṁ prapanno'haṁ namaste puruṣottama ||2-114-17 arjuna said: O lord!
