Parva 3 Chapter 116: śrīkṛṣṇasya pratisaṁdeśaḥ - kṛṣṇa's reply

vaiśampāyana uvāca hāsaṁ kurvatsu teṣvevaṁ keśavaḥ keśisūdanaḥ | uvāca vacanaṁ dūtaṁ gaccha madvacanāddvija ||3-116-1

Translation

vaiśampāyana said: (O janamejaya!) As all of them were laughing, keshava (kṛṣṇa), the slayer of keshi, spoke these words to the messenger (janārdana): "O twice born! Go and tell my words". tāvitthaṁ haṁsaḍimbhakau brūhi tvaritavikramaḥ | bāṇairdāsyāmi niśitaiḥ śārṅgamuktaiḥ śilāśitaiḥ ||3-116-2 asinā vātha dāsyāmi nishitena mahātmanoḥ | "Quickly go and tell (my words to) the valiant haṁsa and ḍimbhaka: I shall answer those great souls with sharp arrows sharpened on the grinding stone, released from the bow śārṅga or with a sharp sword. śiro vā Chetsyate cakraṁ matkaraprahitaṁ balim ||3-116-3 Or, the cakra released from my hand will provide the sacrifice by cutting off their heads. yo varaṁ dattavānrudro yuvayordhārṣṭyakāraṇam | sa eva rakṣitā vāṁ syāttaṁ jitvā vāṁ nihanmyaham ||3-116-4 The boon given by rudra (shiva) to both of you is the reason for your audacity. Even if he protects you, I shall conquer you and kill you. desho yaṁ saṁvidhātavyo yatra naḥ saṅgatirbhavet | tatra gantā tathā cāsmi sabalaḥ sahavāhanaḥ ||3-116-5 The place for our meeting should be decided. I shall go there along with my army and carriages. bhavantau nirbhayau bhūtvā gacchetāṁ sabalau nṛpau | puṣkare vā prayāge vā mathurāyāmathāpi vā ||3-116-6 O kings! Becoming fearless, you shall also reach puṣkara, prayāga or the city of mathura (the meeting place) along with your army. tatrāhaṁ sabalo yātā nātra kāryā vicāraṇā | atha vā mitrabhāvāccha vaktumevaṁ na te kṣamam ||3-116-7 I shall reach there along with my army. There is nothing else to be thought on this. Or else, you may not be able to speak thus (to haṁsa and ḍimbhaka) due to your friendship. na śakyaṁ yattvayā vaktuṁ taccha vakṣyati sātyakiḥ | tvayā saha tato gatvā sākṣibhūto bhava dvija ||3-116-8 sātyaki will speak, what you are unable to speak. He will go there along with you. O twice born! You will be a witness. idaṁ ca jāne viprendra sneho mama sadā tvayi | O the indra of brahmins! I know that you are always having love for me. tena tvaṁ vijayī bhūtvā saṁsāre duḥkhasaṅkule | matkathāparamo nityaṁ sadā bhava janārdana ||3-116-9 Due to that, you shall conquer the material world full of sorrow. O janardāna!
