Translation
Sword in hand, Kaṁsa moved quickly from side to side like a hawk in the sky. But Lord Kṛṣṇa, whose fearsome strength is irresistible, powerfully seized the demon just as the son of Tārkṣya might capture a snake.

As Kaṁsa wielded his sword up and down, hither and thither, Lord Kṛṣṇa, the supreme powerful Lord, caught hold of him with great force.
Purport (Jiva Goswami)
Kaṁsa moved about quickly in various ways (vi—carantam), circling around, to the left and right with great skill, like a hawk in the sky. This indicates that he was hard to catch. But Kṛṣṇa seized him with great strength (prasahya) since he was endowed with great, intolerable ferocity (durviṣahogra-tejā), just as Garuḍa attacks intolerably ferocious snakes. The example shows that many intolerably ferocious snakes can be easily caught since their power is ordinary compared to Kṛṣṇa’s.
