नेदुर्दुन्दुभयो व्योम्नि ब्रह्मेशाद्या विभूतय: पुष्पै: किरन्तस्तं प्रीता: शशंसुर्ननृतु: स्त्रिय: ॥ ४२ ॥

Verse text

nedur dundubhayo vyomni brahmeśādyā vibhūtayaḥ puṣpaiḥ kirantas taṁ prītāḥ śaśaṁsur nanṛtuḥ striyaḥ

Synonyms

neduḥ — resounded ; dundubhayaḥ — kettledrums ; vyomni — in the sky ; brahma — īśa — ādyāḥ — Brahmā, Śiva and other demigods ; vibhūtayaḥ — His expansions ; puṣpaiḥ — flowers ; kirantaḥ — scattering down ; tam — upon Him ; prītāḥ — pleased ; śaśaṁsuḥ — they chanted His praises ; nanṛtuḥ — danced ; striyaḥ — their wives .

Translation

Kettledrums resounded in the sky as Brahmā, Śiva and other demigods, the Lord’s expansions, rained down flowers upon Him with pleasure. They chanted His praises, and their wives danced.

Kettledrums resounded in the sky as Brahmā, Śiva and other demigods, the Lord's expansions, rained down flowers upon Him with pleasure. They chanted His praises, and their wives danced. KB 10.44.42 The demigods from the higher planetary systems showered flowers, congratulating Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma. Among the demigods were powerful personalities like Lord Brahmā and Lord Śiva, and all joined together in showing their jubilation over Kaṁsa’s death. There were beating of drums and showering of flowers from the heavenly planets, and the wives of the demigods danced in ecstasy.

The devatās were the servants of Kṛṣṇa. They had been given powers by him (vibhūtayaḥ).

All the devatās became pleased. Drums sounded on their own, since they were heavenly drums, or on the strength of the auspiciousness. Brahmā and Indra and others, who were his servants (vibhūtayaḥ), pleased, showered flowers and sang praises. (Very good! Very good!) The Āpsarās danced.
